Proven Leadership

Real Results

I’m Dan Perdue, Chairman of the Houston County Board of Commissioners — and I’m running for re-election to keep Houston County moving forward.

About Dan

I’m a lifelong Houston County resident, husband, father, farmer, and business owner. I was first elected to the Houston County Board of Commissioners in 2020, representing Post 4, before being elected Chairman in 2022.

As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Houston County government, I oversee the day-to-day operations of our county, set the strategic direction for Houston County, and work alongside our fellow Commissioners and dedicated county staff to keep things moving forward.

Houston County is home. It’s where I was raised, where I’ve built my career, and where my kids attend our public schools. I ran for Chairman because I believe in the legacy of stable, principled leadership that has made this county one of the best places to live in Georgia. I’m running for re-election because there’s more work to do to ensure that the next generation has it just as good — or better — than I did.

A record of results

When I took office as Chairman, I promised to lead with integrity, invest wisely, and keep Houston County on solid financial footing. Here’s what we’ve delivered.

Stronger Public Safety

Keeping our families safe is my top priority. We’ve increased funding for our fire department and law enforcement, helping our first responders deliver the level of service that Houston County families expect and deserve. On my watch, the Houston County Fire Department has better coverage than ever, and there are more Sheriff’s Deputies patrolling our streets than ever before.

Fiscal Responsibility

We’ve reduced the millage rate to historical lows to combat rising property values and implemented a floating homestead tax exemption to protect Houston County homeowners. We balanced the budget while maintaining a healthy General Fund reserve, gave merit-based raises to retain our dedicated county employees, and fully obligated every dollar of our federal ARPA funds so that not a single cent went back to Washington.

Investing in Infrastructure

Houston County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Georgia, and our infrastructure has to keep pace. We’ve expanded water lines to rural areas, begun construction on a new water tower in Bonaire, completed critical stormwater projects, and approved road improvements across the county. We’re planning ahead so our infrastructure is ready for the growth that’s coming.

Standing with Robins

Robins Air Force Base is the largest single-site employer in the state of Georgia, supporting over 22,000 jobs and generating $4.2 billion in economic impact in 2024 alone. Houston County’s partnership with Robins is the backbone of our local economy — and protecting that partnership has never been more important. As Chairman, I have advocated fiercely for the base, its missions, and the military families who call Houston County home.

Trusted by our Community

Tommy Stalnaker, Former Chairman of the Houston County Commission

On February 17, 2022, I used the following words to describe Dan when he announced his intention to seek the position of Chairman of the Board of Commissioners:

Integrity, Transparency, Willing to confront tough issues, Treat all people with respect, Visionary, Strong leader.

I believed he would uphold each of those words when elected, and without a doubt, he has done just that in his first term of office as Chairman. It is my honor to continue to endorse Dan Perdue for another term as Chairman. He is the right person to continue leading Houston County for the next four years.

Col (Ret) Chris Davis, Vice Chairman, Houston County Development Authority

I’ve had the privilege of watching Dan serve as Chairman of the Houston County Commission with steadfast and visionary leadership. He communicates a clear, strategic vision for Houston County’s future and approaches challenges with transparency, integrity, and thoughtful corrective action.

I especially admire his collaborative spirit and genuine commitment to accountability. Dan leads with both conviction and care, and I believe he is the right leader to continue guiding Houston County forward.

The Road Ahead

Houston County has grown by more than 27% since 2010, and our population now exceeds 175,000. That growth brings opportunity — but it also brings challenges. In my next term, I’ll focus on:

Managing Growth Responsibly

Making sure our roads, water systems, and public facilities keep up with the pace of development, without putting the burden on taxpayers.

Investing in Our People

Continuing to recruit and retain quality county employees through competitive pay and a merit-based system, so that the people who serve our community are valued and supported.

Protecting Robins AFB

With uncertainty at the Federal level, Houston County must be a strong, unified voice in defense of Robins and the thousands of jobs it supports.

Measuring What Matters

Implementing performance metrics across county departments to ensure we’re delivering efficient, effective government for every taxpayer dollar spent.
